Description

In Trekk fra Sydvarangers historie it is stated: "A transport belt lifts the ore through a 270 metre tunnel from the coarse crusher 70 metres to the top of the silo for coarsely crushed ore. The silo is blasted down into the mountain and can accommodate 10,000 tons. In a tunnel under the silo the ore is drained into 40-ton railway wagons. The wagons are loaded at speed - 15 ore wagons can be loaded in less than 10 minutes."

The silo is an oval shape that flattens off on the east and west sides. It is built of whitewashed reinforced concrete, with a large, arched roofed area that extends right down to the ground. The roof is clad with sheet asphalt and has a small 'house' on top. The building for the conveyor belt from the coarse crusher slants upwards from the ground on the east side and enters the small house on top of the silo roof.
