"Fantasien" (The Imagination) is the title of the mural covering the end wall directly in front of you as you enter the hall. It spans the entire wall, measuring 13 x 6 meters. This and the other decorations were executed using the al secco technique (painted on dry plaster). The painting is figurative but also executed in a constructed, almost geometric style, typical of Norwegian muralists in the post-war period. The painter is the central figure on the wall, working on depictions of scenes from the region's landscapes and folk life.
