Description

Several of the old residences on the street Sjøgata were built starting in 1850 and onwards throughout the last half of the century. They are built of cogging jointed timber and clad on the exterior with wooden panelling. Several of the buildings have symmetric façades, with windows and details belonging to the late-Empire style. It was common that the farmers in Vefsn built cogging jointed buildings, as this area was rich with forests. These structures were sold again and re-erected at Mosjøen and other places - they were prefabricated structures. In this way the plan solutions that were commonly used in the countryside were also used in the town.
