The catchment mound has a simple shape that is clearly man made, and it clearly stands out as a contrast to the natural landscape. However, the way it gently merges into the hillside at the northern end considerably softens the impact of the intervention and it calmly guides drivers heading north towards the stunning views at the end of the rise. The top of the mound has a horizontal surface as flat as the sea on a windless day. Another thing achieved is also hiding the scars of an old quarry and the old road which now leads to nowhere.
