Description

Local craftsmen were used for the construction work and Pastor Nissen emphasized in correspondence about the church that carpenters from Karasjok had built larger rooms and roof constructions than this. Nissen took care of making contact with the craftsmen and he obviously discussed finer points of detail with them. He was also responsible for supervising the building work, until he became Inspector of Reindeer Herds in 1913.

Carpenters from Karasjok thus constructed the building and a local joiner made most of the furnishings. It is constructed of notched logs like a meeting house, a long church where the nave and the choir are of the same breadth and height. It is oriented in a somewhat untraditional fashion, with the choir to the south. On the southern gable wall the sacristy is situated in a narrow, low extension, while the tower and main entrance are situated at the northern gable.
