Description

On the bench side posts there is carved ornamentation filled with a red colouring. This seems to be simple border ornamentation derived from the Sami tradition of timber, bone or fabric decoration.

The church was built by local artisans. John Isaksen from Karasjok was the master builder and head of construction and his five sons carried out the work. Isaksen was known as a competent joiner and smith who could turn his hand to most things, and the fixtures and fittings were constructed at his workshop in Karasjok.
