"Polmak kirke" (5 of 7)
Description
In the days when the church was only lit by candlelight, there were tin candle-holders on the walls, the pulpit and the pews. A richly detailed tin candelabrum from that time now hangs in the vestibule. Later on two large paraffin lamps decorated with glass prisms were installed. Candelabra and other pendant lights from different eras now hang over the nave.
The oldest known chasuble from Polmak is now at Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo. It is thought to have been made from Italian material from the beginning of the 17th century. Among Polmak Church's current paraments is an old chasuble that used to belong to Nesseby Church, made in red damask with yellow silk decorations. Its back has a yellow cross and shows the year 1757.
