"Fiskernes servicestasjoner" (4 of 4)
Description
The service stations comprised diverse rooms and devices for the fisherman. This was a new concept that developed during the reconstruction period, following the destruction caused by the war. Initially there were plans to build service stations in several fishing villages, but in the end there was only one built, here in Honningsvåg. This was in spite of incoming support from the fishing companies. Facilities such as service stations were meant to comprise functions that had previously been linked with the fisheries. The idea was that activities, which were not directly related to production, were removed from the processing plants, in order to minimize the fishermen's dependence of the buyers.
