An arcade is situated around the actual choir section. This feature is reminiscent of arcades found in churches from the Middle Ages. This is not a conventional altarpiece, but on the choir wall there is a painting depicting Christ Triumphant, positioned in an almond shaped halo (mandorla). He is holding a book in his left hand and his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Here the adorations are reminiscent of mosaics from Byzantine churches.
