"Vadsø kirke" (5 of 7)
Description
Vadsø Church is a long church (Basilica) with three naves and a barrel vault. The choir is relatively short and narrow. The narrow side naves provide access to the pews and continue inwards to the secondary room, situated next to the choir, which is enclosed with an arcade on three sides. Architecturally integrated decorations strongly distinguish the sanctuary room. This was a lovely solution formulated to accentuate the room and the architecture. All of the decorations were executed by Grethe Thiis, with collaboration from members of the church community in Trondheim. Geometric patterns with bright and lucid colours are painted on the concrete surfaces of the gallery parapet, vault, rounded choir arch and on the walls of the choir.
