"Jæra boligområde" (3 of 5)
Description
These are the design illustrations for the family residences on the street Nedregate at Jæra. There were nine houses of this type that were built from 1916 until roughly 1920, and were prefabricated houses produced by Nordviken Bruk in Hamar. Three of these houses were demolished in the 1970s, while at the same time the others were renovated. One of the most common types of workers housing at Jæra was the block with four flats, divided both vertically and horizontally, and it was also common at other industrial areas and in towns in Norway in the 1920s. It was a well-accommodating and economical residence to build, intended for letting out, but had poor sound insulation. This illustration belongs to the archive Statkraft historiske dokumentasjonsarkiv in Glomen.
