"Bakeriet og Rossgården på Lyngseidet" (4 of 5)
Description
The old bakery is a two-storied small cogging jointed house. On the exterior it is clad with overlapping vertical panelling, something that provides contrast between light and dark areas on the façade. This makes it a somewhat "livelier" façade than for example the estate Rossgården. The bakery has a gently saddled roof that is covered with square shaped slate tiles. An annex with a lean-to roof is located on the south side of the house. This structure continues around the back of the building into a one-storied annex. Old photographs of the building show that there also used to be an annex on the north side.
Many features of this house were typical for wooden houses from the middle of the 19th century (or even earlier) in the Troms County. Consider for example, the house's form, the slightly saddled roof, the Empire style windows, the panelling and the yellow-ochre colour. In addition to the cogging jointed boxes which reflect the interior room divisions.
