New housing types have brought new solutions to the colour scheme too, like here in the upper part of the Gruvedalen neighborhood. The flat roofed box-like terraced houses have been stained black, but with the original scheme's bright colours used on the balcony railings. Seen from afar this creates a softer transition between the brightly coloured houses below and the bare mountainside at the back.
