"Åsveien 19" (2 of 3)
Description
The façade is symmetric to the north and the flat roof has sunk down in the middle of the house. The area to the west of the town between the centre and Harstadåsen, which today consists primarily of detached houses with gardens around, began to be built up in the course of the first half of the twentieth century. Before that, there were mostly rural surroundings up here, with amongst others Kaarbøgården (Kaarbø Farm) dating from the early part of the nineteenth century. Today, there is a considerable variety of building types, with villas in the Swiss style and Jugend style and housing in a functionalist style, as well as a sports hall and church nearby.
