"Åsveien 19" (1 of 3)
Description
The house is situated in an area of low-level wooden housing and has a garden with a low hedge round it. The plot is on a flat piece of land and the terrain slopes upwards to the west. The house in Åsveien is built in a functionalist style, with an L-shape layout and a flat roof. The façade is clad with horizontal boarding, so-called "su-panel", that it was customary to use for houses built in the "funkis" (functionalist) style. The outside walls are painted in a dark colour, and the windows are simple and unframed. The entrance door is in the same colour as the rest of the house and has a hexagonal window. On the south side space has been made for a small veranda at second-floor level over the entrance. The architect Sigurd Bjørhovde (1888-1959) designed this house, and several of the houses he was responsible for are still to be found in Harstad.
