Kvamstykket Day Nursery is situated on the east facing slope north of the city centre. The surrounding area is dominated by one and two storey detached houses and has an open character. The day nursery's plot of land has been modified into terraces and gentle slopes to facilitate both play and parking areas. The building has been placed crossways to separate the land into two distinct areas, parking to the north and play to the south. The building has flat roofs that underline the horizontal emphasis of the elevations.

All the children's areas are gathered on one floor and each group has large south facing windows and direct access to the play area through recessed exits. The staff rooms are located on the first floor and at the lower ground floor there are utility rooms. The three floors are connected by a centrally positioned lift and stairway.
