The open ground floor plan, bay windows, the sparse corner and window surround details are major characteristics of Kirsten Sand's house. The emphasis on functionality is very typical for the post war reconstruction period. However, the tightly designed details where the horizontal cladding meet a vertical batten at the corners and the chamfered window jambs do very much differ from the traditional detailing on most other reconstruction period houses. Another particular detail is how the doors to the fuel and bicycle stores are "hidden" by seemingly continuous horizontal cladding.
