"Anna Eides vei - kjedehus" (5 of 5)
Description
In 1958, Tromsø Housing Association initiated an architectural competition for these small houses, which was won by Tromsø architect Gunnar Bøgeberg Haugen. The houses were built according to adjusted plans relating to the competition, and were prefabricated as kit houses by Lyngen Fabrikker.
The six southernmost houses (numbers 13-23) were originally conceived as a bit larger and a bit different to numbers 1-11 in Anna Eides vei. This was too expensive, and they ended up being identical to numbers 1-11, which had already been authorized.
This photograph shows the row of houses, numbers 1-11, where the ground floor and the upper floor are painted the same colour. The other row of houses, numbers 13-23, are all painted the same light colour on the ground floor but their upper floors are painted different colours.
