The university square is located in the Humanities district, in between the National Archives, the University Library and the Faculty of Humanities (Humfak.). Artist Guttorm Guttormsgård, in collaboration with the landscape architect Bjarne Aasen, designed the university square. It was completed in 1991. The campus' main walkway sweeps past the square and one end can be perceived as an extension of the other end. The square is designed in the form of a bowl-shaped labyrinth - where concentric rings encircle an illustrious oval shaped pool, filled with tepid water. The rings are formed out of stone pitching and are alternately surfaced with grass and beach gravel.
