Description

The building's size in length, width and height is maximal for a cogging joint construction. The row of columns in the interior of the nave does not support the roof, only the gallery. Main stabilisation of the construction is located in the vertical pilasters/turnbuckles and iron poles that are stretched out transversely above the room, between the nicely formed rafters. In 1994, the interior was painted after extensive colour experimentation. Originally the interior walls were oil stained
later they painted and glazed in a corresponding colour tone. The construction, gallery parapet and pews were coloured and executed in a way that imitated the dark woodwork - something that was common during the last half of the 19th century. The organ, located in the gallery above the main entrance is from the 1860s, and is one Norway's most valuable from that century. It was built Claus Jensen, by one of Norway's most renowned organ makers.
