The government sold the property in 1972 and the Nordland section of Fortidsminneforeningen (The Society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments) has owned the keeper's cottage with the lighthouse since 1987. The maintenance of the building had then long been neglected and major renovation work has taken place, much of it done by volunteers. It is now used as a clubhouse and is also let for other events.
