Harstad kino (Harstad Cinema)
Description
The cinema auditorium is situated innermost in the complex. Only the narrow three-storied façade strip and the entrance are visible from the street. The entrance occupies the entire width of the façade and is marked by a sturdy concrete cantilever roof. The cantilever roof slants upwards and is terminated by a neon sign that reads 'KINO' (CINEMA) in large letters. The façade is trimmed with marble and a robust marble column originates at ground level and continues two stories to the roofline. This is one example that demonstrates the architectural principles of modernism.
The narrow façade holds the public entryway, and is designed like an advertisement poster for the cinema auditorium, which is concealed from the street and town.
