Anda fyrstasjon (Anda Lighthouse)
Description
Anda, Stø
Anda Lighthouse is situated on an islet approximately 5 km north of Langøya in Vesterålen and west of Andøya. Facing the vast Norwegian Sea it is still safely within sight of the steep mountains of the nearby islands.
The square white concrete tower looms 16m tall right next to the two storey keeper's cottage. The lantern sits in a red circular lantern room and was first lit in 1932. The lighthouse has been modernised but many original features have been preserved. The remains of an outbuilding and a fuel store can be seen along the path down to the boathouse and one of the two landing places. The landing conditions are treacherous and the there is no access for the general public.
In 1999 the lighthouse and the keeper's cottage was given protected status in accordance with the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act.
