Description

Korsnes, Bognes i Tysfjord
Korsnes Trading Post is situated on a peninsula on the approach to the fjord Tysfjorden. It is surrounded by beautiful white beaches and has a view of Stetind, a mountain once voted Norway's most iconic mountain.

The wharf and the dower house, both built during the 19th century, as well as the storehouse from the 18th century are situated right next to the small south-facing bay. On the ridge behind sits the main house, which was completed in 1926. There are also an old barn, fish drying racks and some newer buildings for the tourist trade. The residences have been painted white while the other buildings are red. The main house has diamond shaped slates on the roof, the dower house has a red pantile roof, the storehouse has wooden shingles and the warehouse on the wharf simply has galvanized corrugated steel.

The foundation of the two storey warehouse consists of ashlar walls and piers both on land and in the sea and above water level there is a continuous construction of round notched logs.
