Angellgården (Angellgård Residence)

Inndyr
The Angellgård Residence is situated in Inndyr, which is the local authority centre in the Gildeskål Municipality. This red painted, elongated building is located in a built-up area alongside the main street that runs through this area. It is a two-storied rectangular building which is constructed from cogging jointed timber. On the exterior it is clad with vertical panelling and has a sod covered hipped roof. The main façade faces the southeast and has rows of small paned Rococo windows and two doors with exterior profiled panelling in a fishbone pattern. Both the doors and the windows have simple Empire style frames.
The oldest part of the building is the central section, which is most likely from roughly 1590. It was originally built as a widow's residence, constructed in the proximity of the feudal lord's residence which was destroyed by fire. Near the end of the 1760s the house was moved to its current location, at this time an addition was annexed to the south side. In 1807 another addition, of roughly the same size, was annexed to the north side.
