"Korparti" (4 of 4)
Description
The choir has a simpel design, with light coming from a side window to the east and a color scheme in the furnishings that aligns more with the pastel tones of 1950s modernism. This harmonizes with the altar decoration by Kåre Mikkelsen Jonsborg, who also designed the altarpiece in another church by Hans Magnus, Berlevåg Church. As a painter, Jonsborg was influenced by modernism's use of color and principles of geometric composition. In Svalbard Church, he depicted scenes from the life of Jesus in a monumental altarpiece and three smaller panels on the altar table. During the church's renovation in 2005, some choir furnishings, such as the pulpit and altar rail, were replaced, but the 1950s style was preserved.
