Description

The laboratory building is nicely designed with dark walls and light detailing - most likely built in 1917. The characteristic Art Nouveau windows have a combination of small and large panes. An original architectural drawing shows that the first floor contained an office, weighing room, laboratory, extraction room, crushing room, coal and heating area, and a toilet. The attic floor housed an apartment with living room, kitchen, two sleeping alcoves, and a hallway.
The ore from the Bjørkåsen mines primarily contained pyrite, and additionally some copper and zinc.
