Description
Toftakerstua was moved to the rural museum and museum activities in 1976. It was erected at Toftaker in 1870 by tailor Sivert Toftaker and his wife Karen when both came to Bardu from Oppdal. It is a central corridor house in two full stories, and the timber is partly of large dimensions. For example, in the northern gable wall, there is only one log under the window. The military moved the house from Toftaker to the 1st battalion's area at Setermoen in 1905. There, the house was used as a residence, workshop, and offices. Today, Toftakerstua contains a stone collection and a collection of Sami objects. The unique stone collection belonged to Jørgen Larsen, and the fine collection of Sami objects belonged to Tordis Steien.
