Description

Tungeneset is located between Steinfjorden and Ersfjorden in the northwest part of Senja island, along County Road 862 in Troms. There is a parking lot by the road and a restroom building whose roof design reflects the lines of the surrounding mountains. From the parking lot, a walkway leads down the smooth coastal rocks toward the sea. The walkway points directly toward the Okshornan mountain range to the north and offers views of the Norwegian Sea to the west.

The walkway is 80 meters long and ends at a grill area on the rocks by the sea. The first 35 meters consist of a concrete ramp that follows the natural terrain downward. At the end of the concrete ramp, it widens into a viewing platform, providing a safe spot to stand during storms and bad weather. From there, the ramp continues downward as a narrower bridge made of Siberian larch wood. The walkway ends at a rest area on a sloping concrete surface, featuring a built-in fireplace with a grill. Along the entire route from the parking lot to the rest area, a curving handrail made of Siberian larch is installed on both sides.
