"Vegen over Ifjordfjellet" (1 of 3)
Description
Driving along County Road 98 across the Ifjordfjellet offers magnificent views of the fells, rivers and lakes in high altitude open mountain landscape. Both river drainage systems and Sámi heritage sites have protected status and the area is used all year round for both reindeer herding and outdoor pursuits.
The Ifjordfjellet road connects Finnmark not only from east to west but also coast to inland. The road is an essential export route for fish from Nordkyn to distant foreign markets, but it is also an attractive route for tourists. This section of County Road 96 passes through three different district councils areas: Lebesby, Gamvik and Tana.
