"Hadsel prestegård" (4 of 7)
Description
Hadsel Rectory with the church and cemetery is rich in cultural heritage. The church site from the Middle Ages is documented since 1321. The current church is at least the third on the site and was built in an octagonal shape in 1824. It contains medieval church art. The rectory courtyard itself is located on a large farm mound, consisting of waste deposits, partly from the Middle Ages. It is not unreasonable to assume that the rectory has been at this location since the time the first church was built. From pre-Christian times, there are burial mounds, star monuments, boathouse ruins, and hollow ways on the rectory land.
