The main hall has an exposed concrete load-bearing framework. The rest of the building's load-bearing external walls, load-bearing internal party walls, the intermediate floor and the galleries in the main hall and the hall's elegant stairs are also all made in site-cast concrete.

The building that was Sortland Gymnas is typical of its time and is a modernist building with many architectural qualities. It has over the years undergone changes and is now incorporated into the larger building complex which is Sortland Vidregående Skole.
