"Makkaur fyrstasjon" (3 of 3)
Description
The lighthouse and the keeper's cottage were only partly destroyed during the occupying forces' retreat in 1944. The lighthouse tower was rebuilt in 1946. Makkaur Light Station is managed by the Norwegian Coastal Administration on behalf of the Norwegian government. The lighthouse was automated in 2005 and there have since not been any permanent live-in staff. The land surrounding the light station belongs to Statskog (a state owned forestry enterprise) and the area is protected by Båtsfjord District Council's local plans.
