Description

The Hansen House is one and a half-storied, constructed of cogging jointed timber and clad with vertical exterior panelling. It has a pitched roof with a dormer asymmetrically positioned on the main façade. The house is finely detailed. For example, the weather bars have "laced edges"
the lath panelling has an intricate design
there are Empire style windows
the main entrance door is well executed and there is a sun parlour. Both the interior and exterior of the building are well preserved. This building houses a residence and shop. An annex is located on the upper side of the building as well as two adjoined outbuildings that contain a barn and stable. The outbuildings form a closed yard that is bordered by a rocky knoll. On the south-east side of the building lies a flower garden enclosed by a picket fence. Nowadays the vegetation in this area is primarily dominated by Venus' chariot and creeping willow, but there are also "Tromsø Palms" (Heracleum) which were most likely introduced to this area by the Pomors.
