"Sørreisa hovedkirke" (3 of 5)
Description
The plan shows that the form of the sanctuary room is precisely equivalent to the old church's octagonal-shaped room, both in terms of size and positioning on the site. Outside of this octagon structure lies a circumscribed square, which contains an expanded sanctuary room and requisite secondary rooms and sacristy.
The old church at Sørreisa was an octagonal-shaped church, constructed after designs executed by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch (1801-1865). The old church was consecrated in 1844.
