An internal stairway, which faces the street Roald Amundsens gate, is revealed through the vertical window elements. This stairway is housed in a separate stairwell tower that projects upwards and extends above the main shell of the building. By allowing the projecting balconies to extend around the corner, this emphasises the fact that both the Hotel Havly and the Vardø Police Station have an equivalent amount of traffic on the streets Strandgata and Roald Amundsens gate.
