Description

Between the wings that curve towards the southwest and the fjord there are sheltered outside areas. Nearer the seashore there is a grillhouse and other kinds of outside areas, blending in with nature.

The decision to site the centre at Skibotn was taken by LHL (National Association for Heart &
Lung Diseases) in 1979. Skibotn was chosen because of its geographical position more or less in the centre of North Norway, but also because Skitbotn is arid in climate terms and has the greatest number of clear-weather days in Northern Europe. LHL also envisaged a co-operation in North Calotte terms, between Finland, Sweden and Norway. During the summer the site is used additionally as an overnight location for coach groups, since Skibotn is a day’s drive from such places as Nordkapp.
