"Væreiergården i Stamsund" (2 of 5)
Description
The main floor facing the garden (2nd floor towards the quayside) comprises salons, a dining room, smoking room (now the TV room) and kitchen. The floor above originally housed the family’s bedrooms, and in the attic there were several bedrooms previously used by the staff. In the dwelling section much of the original layout has been maintained. The main changes are on the bedroom floor, where the rooms have been enlarged to incorporate ensuite facilities. On the main floor of the house the entrances and windows have carefully-fashioned surrounds executed using rustication and flattened curves.
In addition to living accommodation for the fishing station owner and his family, the building also formerly housed an office, post-house and business premises, all situated on the ground floor. This is clearly visible in the façade facing the quay, with entrance and window surrounds in a simple style.
