"Valberg kirke" (4 of 5)
Description
Berg.
Neo-Gothic traits also characterise the nave. There is a partially exposed ceiling construction in the form of a pitched roof. The opening between the nave and the choir has three tall Gothic pointed arches. The walls are clad with vertical light painted panelling. The construction elements, such as the poles and ceiling trusses, are emphasised by a reddish-brown colour, the same applies to the pulpit and pews.
In 1951-52, a rather extensive renovation of the church was carried out. As part of this project, the pulpit was moved. In order to let in more natural light, high positioned windows were installed on both sides of the choir. In the choir, above the altarpiece, a hexagonal stained glass window was installed. Stained glass windows were also installed in the door between the porch and the nave.
The altarpiece was restored after a drawing executed by the architect Harald Sund. Various articles were used to refurbish the altarpiece, such as items from older churches in Valberg, in addition to new items that were built. The design is inspired by the altar at the Herøy Church.
The church's current organ has 354 pipes and was dedicated in 1996. The organ builder was Ryde &
