Description

The Yugoslav legation in Oslo agreed to the Norwegian plan to bring together all the Yugoslavs who had died in German captivity in Norway. The Norwegian authorities set up the Yugoslav war cemetery in Botn in accordance with this plan. Fallen Yugoslavs buried elsewhere in North Norway were transferred to Botn. The graveyard was consecrated on 26 September 1954 in the presence of senior representatives from the Yugoslav and Norwegian authorities.

The Yugoslav war cemetery, which stood ready on Stormyra in Botn in 1954, was funded and is maintained by the Norwegian authorities.
