Description

At the trading settlement Røsvik there is a two-storied main building constructed of cogging jointed timber, long and narrow, and the form is reminiscent of long dwelling houses from Trøndelag. The building has two lovely Empire portals, designed as if they were from Trondheim. However on the exterior, the building has horizontal wooden panelling, which was typical in Western Norway, and the saddle roof is slightly fringed like the old houses found in Bergen. The main building was built in 1832.

The façade that faces the yard has two robust portals with fluted, embedded columns that support a richly profiled decorative crown. Two old built-in benches flank the entrance. When this photograph was taken the benches were being renovated. These small paned windows have a Rococo style.
