Description
People have been living at Havnnes for centuries. It was granted a license as trading post in 1798 and has ever since as been trading as well as making a living from fishing, farming and forestry. The Giæver family has managed the place successfully since the 1860s when Johannes Holmboe Giæver married its then owner's daughter Ovidia Fredrikke Lyng Hallen.
