Description

Construction of the bridge started in 1892, the objective was to connect the two communities Sørkjosen and Storslett. Two spans were constructed, but a severe ice drift the following year destroyed the bridge pier that was erected in the middle of the river. As a consequence, new plans were devised and resulted in the reduction to one bridge span. The new single-span bridge was completed in 1899, and iron superstructure was manufactured by the company Christiania Maskinverksted. Use of the bridge continued until 1955, when a new bridge was constructed closer to the mouth of the river. This new bridge is a part of the main road 'E 6' that leads north.
