"Helgelandsbrua" (2 of 3)
Description
The bridge is comprised of two different construction principles. The main arch between the two towers is a stay cable bridge - a type of hanging bridge. It has a relatively slender and elegant bridge deck, which is supported by cables that are suspended from the tall towers in a cross between a fan form and a harp form. Both the towers and the cables can be seen from a long distance. From the land and out towards the main arch there are viaducts with columns/beam construction.
