The Ibestad Vicarage is located on the north eastern side of Rolla, one of the two islands that make up the Ibestad Municipality. Ibestad has a long tradition as having a church. The church from 1881 was erected on the same site as a church from the Middle Ages, which dated either to the end of 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century.

The vicarage's yard is situated alongside the church and is an important part of the church's closest surroundings. Four buildings comprise the yard, which along with the church constitute a church and vicarage milieu typical during the end of the 19th century. The main building is the oldest out of the four buildings and is believed to have been erected sometime during 1758-76. In general it has retained its appearance since the last time it was renovated in 1881.
