This photograph was taken in 1983 and shows the harbour front before the grey painted (to the right in the photo) warehouse was converted into a library. Furthest in (to the left in the photo) lies the town hall. The two warehouses to the left of the library have a form which was typical of many brick/concrete reconstructed buildings. It has a weight bearing concrete frame that is emphasised by the paint - something that provides the sea-facing gable façade with a squared quality.
