Description

Many of the reconstruction era houses were relatively small and hence many have been extended sometimes to nearly twice the size of the original house. Quite often a bedroom and bathroom were added on to the ground floor. (This kind of extensions was given the nickname "velstandsvorte" which translates to something like "wart of wealth".) Another common alteration was to replace the original central mullion windows with single pivoting casement windows, which were popularly called "housewife's windows".
