The workshop sites are formed with their use in mind, including large window areas to provide good lighting and a roof cavity without column support to provide a large workshop hall, where tackle hanging from roof rails can be manoeuvred around large areas of the hall.

The building area is divided in two, of which one section, consisting of the workshop halls with arched roofs and gateways, is set out in an L-shape with its length running northwest-southeast. The other section houses a storeroom, offices and canteen, amongst other things, and has a gently-sloping lean-to roof and small rectangular windows.
