Description

Nusfjord is a natural harbour with an insufficient amount of arable land. Therefore this area, like many other trading settlements in Northern Norway, was primarily built up around the fisheries. In the 1950s there was a short period which fishermen were once again allowed to fish with nets. Consequently, the net covered fish drying racks that were erected at this time still remain standing today and are valuable cultural and historical monuments.
