Description

Several of the fishermen's sheds are situated alongside the edge of the sea, in a small cove, on the south side of the fishing village. The fishermen's sheds are one-storied red painted wooden buildings on piles, with one or two storage rooms in each. They served as lodging for the visiting fishermen during the fishing seasons. According to an insurance report done in 1888, there were 75 fishermen's sheds in Nusfjord. Today
34 of the fishermen's sheds are still preserved, some are used by fisherman during the Lofoten fishing season, while the majority of them are rented out to tourists.
